what makes a good photograph?

A good photograph communicates with its viewer. Whether it presents a setting, a story, or an idea, it demands an emotional response from the viewer. This response could be caused by many different elements of a photograph. It could be an investigation of the subject, or a mood presented. It could illustrate an idea to the viewer or make a pointed statement about the world and the society we live in. A great photograph could encapsulate a significant moment in history, or simply point out a subtle nuance of something, which forces the viewer to look at something differently. Good photographs challenge perspective and makes you see something in a new light, and then they force you to relate to it, which gives the photograph meaning.
